Jo Beckett

Veterinarian (BVSc (Hons), BSc, CMAVA)

What can we say - but Jo is a nerd! She loves to study and learn about all things living. Before becoming a vet, Jo studied Marine Biology, Parasitology, and Zoology, helping to establish an even greater love of all things animal!

Jo has been a vet for nearly 20 years, and started up Furkids when the influx of corporate vet clinics started to put Vet Care out of reach for many people.

Jo loves all aspects of veterinary practice, but has a particular love of Surgery (orthopaedics, soft tissue, reconstructive and brachycephalics) plus reproduction (from conception to delivery and farewell to the new family.)

When not at conferences, Jo loves to travel, scuba dive, hike and spend time in her garden.

Claire Micklethwaite

Veterinarian (B.V.Sc (Hons), B.Sc (Vet) (Hons) PhD)

Claire is multi-talented. Her interests lie in all aspects of veterinary practice, helping clients, medicine, surgery, repro and dentistry. Claire owned her own practice for 7 years and has worked in veterinary industry for 25 years. Often described as incredibly caring and nurturing, Claire is certainly a much-loved and valuable asset to out team.

In 2018, Claire won a veterinary competition, being among other incredibly diverse & influential peers, with a case study report on a dog with Cushings, and went to Rottendam, Holland for the European Congress of Vet Internal Medicine. Claire also attended WSAVA in Singapore in 2018.

In her spare time, Claire loves sailing, traveling, hiking, sewing & spending time with her family. She has a yacht called “Bonheur” and also races occasionally on a friend’s boat called “Scamp”. Already competing in the Sydney to Hobart once before in 2017 she is planning on doing it again this year.

Jessica Van Grinsven

Veterinarian (BVSc (Hons))

Dr Jessica is definitely a favourite. Known to her clients as compassionate, friendly, supportive & empathetic, Jess loves to be able to help those who don't have a voice, and strongly believes in nurturing the human-animal bond.

Jess has been with the Furkids family since 2014, coming from a background of a mixed practice. This has helped Jess have a broad understanding of both small and large animal veterinary care, and since being at Furkids, has been able to extend her experience in clinical and surgical cases of companion animals.

Jess grew up as the eldest of 5 children, and it was evident, even from a young age that her love for animals was strong, being nicknamed 'Kangaroo Girl' by her relatives. Jess nursed during high school and this showed to her that the love of animals ran deep, and continued to study Veterinary Science, receiving Honours in her degree.

Among her busy lifestyle of being a vet, and keeping up with all that it entails, Jess is also an avid family girl, being a mum of three boys (including twins) and has a love of sports & outdoors.

Jess believes that animals enrich our lives more than we realise, and feels that by caring for animals, we can continue to make the world a better place.

Kristine Brandenburg

Veterinarian (B.V.Sc)

Kristine is often described as empathetic and caring, while being an ambassador for general health and clinical veterinary medicine. Kristine believes that prevention is always better than a cure, so has adapted an attitude about being vigilant with ongoing health care for our pets.

Kristine is also incredibly clever, with a degree in Medical Science, as well as study in Psychology, before settling for a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. She has been a part of our team for only a short time, but comes from another practice with plenty of small animal experience.

When she's not working, Kristine loves to spend time with her Furbabies - 2 x adopted Greyhounds. She is also an avid keen exerciser and runner - and happily will take part in 22 km + running races!

Tony Pentecost

Practice Owner (B. Business Professional Accounting)

To be the only male among a female dominated practice, Tony is brave & down to earth, with a quick wit and he enjoys a chat! He comes from a broad background of business management over the past 20 years, both within the food and sports/physical health industries, before shifting into the veterinary business in 2014.

As an co-owner of the business, Tony is always keen on further developing the practice and enjoys the growth of client-vet-pet relationships that continue to form as the business grows older. He enjoys being forefront of the business, as customer service is a quality he strives to achieve, and has a keen interest in veterinary care - in particular canine reproduction.

In his spare time, Tony is a keen cross-fitter, and loves all sports. Although he's a business man, Tony is a self-confessed failure at Monopoly, often losing the title to his young son, Callum!

Kelly Lotz

Practice Manager (Veterinary Nurse, Diploma Veterinary Practice Management)

With a keen interest in business and all-things-animal, Kelly comes to Furkids as our newest staff member for the practice as our Business Development Manager - assisting with the continued growth of the business, implementing structures to better our service to our clients as well as promotion & marketing for Furkids Vets from a more social perspective.
Kelly has worked in the veterinary industry for over 15 years, both as a small and large animal veterinary nurse and as a business sales manager in wholesale. Having had small businesses herself, Kelly is goal driven and is dedicated to nurturing the business from the ground up. She understands how important our clients are, and being an animal lover herself, is empathetic to the need for compassionate care in the veterinary industry.

When not found working at Furkids, Kelly loves to spend time with her own family, traveling & the great outdoors. She also spends time with her very spoilt Border Collie called Willow and her horses! Among all this, she also has a few creative outlets, and loves photography and playing music as singer/songwriter.

Kelly’s weakness is animals – and already finding it incredibly hard to not adopt absolutely every furbaby in the clinic, but is happy to meet all the happy patients that come to visit each day.

Kaitlyn Tierney

Receptionist (Trainee Veterinary Nurse)

Super bubbly and always smiling, Kaitlyn is often found on reception greeting everyone upon entry into the surgery. Currently studying her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing, Kaitlyn has a keen interest in veterinary care and all things animal, but the apple of her eye is her own dog, Bentley. Having been a part of our team for over 2 years, Kaitlyn began her journey with us as a volunteer, and was delighted to be offered a position and opportunity to follow her dreams.

She is friendly and compassionate, and will go out of her way to help our clients & patients.

Nicole Harker

Receptionist

Most of our clients have been lucky enough to meet Nicole, as she looks after our reception and phone calls - and all things 'front of house'!

With ten years experience in the industry and almost three years with Furkids, Nicole is well equipped with knowledge to be our first contact in the business to greet you with a smile & sound knowledge & compassionate advice.

We love Nicole's friendly and bubbly personality, and can put her worried client's minds at ease with her gentle and caring nature.

She loves the team at Furkids & her favourite thing about working in a vet, is that every single animal has its own unique personality. Nic also enjoys her home time with her family and her own gorgeous furbabies.

Nicole Young

Veterinary Nurse

There is no doubt in our mind Nicole's love for animals. Nicole has had a passion for all animals since a young age, often bringing home many strays that became important members of her family. So there was no surprise when she decided to go into rescuing those that need a loving, forever home and founding All Breed Canine Rescue.

Nicole's passion in veterinary care include a vast array of medical cases & raising puppies, and is incredibly compassionate and dedicated to making the life of all our pets better.

Nic has been a fabulous member of our team for several years, and if not for her compassion and dedication alone, her experience as a veterinary nurse is valuable.

Nic is a Furmum to a very naughty Bulldog called William.

Zoe Clements

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nurse)

Zoe began her career with animals at 16 years of age as a trainee vet nurse/kennel hand, and has been working in the veterinary industry for 10 years, gaining experience in both general practice and emergency & critical care settings.

Zoe joined our team in 2015 and has loved every minute of it. In the clinic, she spends a majority of her time as a surgical nurse where she can assist in treating an array of patients. She loves nothing more than providing a high standard of quality care to our furry family members to ensure they get back home to their loving families. Whether it be nursing orthopaedic surgeries, or caring for in-hospital patients, she loves a challenge and learning every day.

When she's not buzzing around the clinic, Zoe loves spending time spoiling her energetic 4 year old Border Collie, Piper, and also enjoys living an active and healthy lifestyle. She's compassionate, incredibly hard working and dedicated to her roll here at Furkids and her genuine, down-to-earth nature is a credible asset. Zoe is a natural when caring for them, so the Veterinary Industry was somewhere she would always destined to end up working in.

Learra Radke

Veterinary Nurse

Learra comes to the Furkids family with experience in both large and small animal nursing, and is an incredibly valuable member of our nursing team.

With a keen and intuitive interest in canine reproduction, Learra breeds both French and Australian Bulldogs, and has a soft spot for all the Brachycephalic breeds, and is a favourite with our clients because of her care and compassion when it comes to their continuing of all breeds and species.
Learra often does the fresh matings at Furkids and enjoys the ongoing learning in regards to all reproduction aspects, and is continuing her love for the reproduction industry by gaining more knowledge in DNA & colouring.

Learra reflects our admirable core strengths of excellence and dedication to her work, with her continued supportive attitude & knowledge that is often evident to our clients, especially our breeders.

Outside of work time, Learra is a keen boater, or otherwise snuggling on her couch with the furbabies TV series binging.

Kirra Kennelly

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate II In Animal Studies, Currently enrolled in Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Lovely Kirra first came to Furkids as a keen volunteer when she was only 13. Her talents, natural ability and eagerness to learn was quickly recognised, and Kirra was employed as a trainee nurse after only 3 months of experience. Now, 4 years on, Kirra is still loving her job and all the things involved in working in the veterinary industry as a very much loved member of the Furkids team.

Often the quiet achiever but quick to crack a joke, Kirra's quick witt & spark is a refreshing addition to our busy & often stressful environment.

A way to her heart is food, and everything except for raisins and corn, and is always up for the opportunity for food remuneration.
